We're Seeking a Project Design Manager in High Wycombe to Manage Acoustic, Blinds & Curtains Fit-out Projects

Job Title: Project Design Manager
Location: High Wycombe, with regular travel to London (Client Sites)
Industry: Interior Fitout – Acoustic Products, Blinds & Curtains
Reports To: Technical Director

The Project Design Manager will be a key player in ensuring the successful delivery of design projects, particularly during the critical early stages of the order process. You will work closely with our on-site delivery teams, clients, and other stakeholders to secure timely design approvals, manage client expectations, and drive forward the detailed sign-off of all products. This role requires a proactive and determined individual with a keen eye for detail, a strong understanding of project scope, and the ability to effectively manage multiple moving parts.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Client Collaboration: Act as the primary point of contact for clients at the inception of the order, ensuring the accurate and timely sign-off of all product details, designs, and specifications.
  • Design Management: Oversee the finalisation of design details for our acoustic products, blinds, and curtains, ensuring they meet both client requirements and project specifications.
  • Project Coordination: Collaborate closely with our on-site delivery teams and project managers to align design approvals with project timelines and milestones.
  • Proactive Problem Solving: Demonstrate urgency and a proactive approach in overcoming design-related challenges to keep projects on track.
  • Scope Management: Ensure full understanding of the project scope, and drive the success of the project by addressing any changes, challenges, or additional requirements promptly.
  • Stakeholder Communication: Facilitate communication between all relevant parties, including clients, design teams, contractors, and suppliers, to ensure clarity and alignment throughout the design phase.
  • Documentation & Reporting: Maintain accurate project documentation and provide regular updates to senior management on the status of design approvals and project progress.
  • Programme and Planning: Work to key dates with uncompromising focus on executing.

Key Skills and Experience:

  • Proven experience as a Project Design Manager, preferably within the interior fitout, construction, or related industries.
  • Strong understanding of acoustic products, blinds, and curtains, with the ability to interpret design specifications and client requirements.
  • Excellent project management skills with a focus on detail and the ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously.
  • A proactive and results-driven approach, with a strong sense of urgency in driving project timelines and securing approvals.
  • Exceptional communication skills, with the ability to manage client relationships and work effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to anticipate challenges and develop solutions to keep projects on track.
  • Familiarity with industry standards, regulations, and best practices in interior design and fitout.
  • Not essential, but a proficiency in design software and project management tools (e.g., AutoCAD, sketch-up, etc.) is a plus.
  • Experience working in London or on similar high-end commercial projects is desirable.
